Surface dock issues with KVM

Hello,

I'm having issues with my Surface Book 2 connecting it to a KVM switch.

KVM: https://www.delock.com/produkte/G\_11467/merkmale.html

Desktop PC:   DP to DP to the switch

Surface Book 2:  Surface dock, and then mini DP to DP to the switch

Issue is that the KVM won't switch as it doesn't seem to get a DP signal ?  The display on my surface also stays on (normally it goes blank and only the monitor displays the desktop when connecting it directly to the DP port of the monitor)

I'm suspecting the surface dock doesn't pass the DP signal when connected to the KVM ?

How can I force this ... the KVM is useless otherwise

    Hi Spacekiek,

When you plugged the KVM switch to the dock, have you tried checking it on the device manager if this was successfully detect by your Surface Book2?

    • From Cortana > search for Device Manager
    • Look for the name of your switch driver, let us know if it is detected.

Can you confirm if you are using an Active cable for the Surface dock.

    Keep us posted.

Ugh I'm so embarrassed to say this, but I didn't realise I had to connect the USB cable as well.

As I didn't need USB (only switch for the 2 DP cables, I hadn't connected these)

With the USB cable connected, the driver installed and I was able to switch !

The monitor was stuck at 4K@ 30Hz, but this was easily fixed with changing the frequency of the monitor (standard was 30Hz for the Generic PnP monitor)
