We are currently using MS Teams Essentials on the cloud.

Our email system is Exchange onPremises.

We are looking for a license that allows us to manage file type filtering for Teams emails, manage files stored on Teams' shared storage, etc. We also want to see if there is a license that allows us to manage client emails on the cloud as well.

To manage file type filtering for Teams emails and files stored on Teams' shared storage, you might consider upgrading from Microsoft Teams Essentials to a higher-tier Microsoft 365 or Office 365 subscription that includes Exchange Online and SharePoint Online. This will allow you to leverage the full capabilities of Teams, including file management and email integration.

Since you are currently using Exchange on-premises, transitioning to Exchange Online would also be beneficial for managing client emails in the cloud. Licenses such as Microsoft 365 Business Standard or Microsoft 365 Business Premium could be suitable options as they include Exchange Online and SharePoint Online, which are necessary for the features you are looking for.

Make sure to evaluate the specific features of each license to find the best fit for your organization's needs.

    Dear @Nguyen Duc Hoan,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, you are looking for a license that allows you to manage and filter files stored in Teams shared storage, control Teams messages and file policies, apply email filtering and policies in the cloud.

Here are some licensing options you can consider:

    1. Microsoft 365 Business Premium

Provides basic Data Loss Prevent (DLP) for emails and files in Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive (including Teams file storage). However, it does not include full Teams chat or channel message filtering.

    1. Microsoft 365 E3 / Office 365 E3

Includes DLP for email and files stored in Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive. However, Teams chat DLP is not included

    1. Microsoft 365 E5 / Office 365 E5

Provides full Microsoft Purview DLP: Teams chat and channel messages, Exchange Online email content, Files in SharePoint/OneDrive/Teams

Ideal for advanced compliance, policy analytics, and content filtering across all Microsoft 365 workloads.
