Hiding/filtering recurring tasks in planner

My team and I use a Plan that repeats every year, so we use Task Buckets in Board view. When we mark a task as complete it automatically reappears in the bucket with a due date for the following year.

I can see in the schedule view there's a 'Hide future recurring tasks' function, but I can't see anything like this for Boards. The Plan runs September - August, so ideally we can mark everything as complete and not see the new tasks until we're ready to go again the following September.

Is there anyway to get this functionality in Board view? Or to at least filter or order tasks by date in the board view?

Currently, there is no specific functionality in the Board view of Microsoft Planner that allows you to hide or filter future recurring tasks like the option available in the Schedule view. The Board view does not support filtering or ordering tasks by date directly.

However, you can manage your tasks by marking them complete, and while they will reappear in the bucket with a due date for the following year, you may want to consider using task labels or custom fields to categorize tasks in a way that helps you manage visibility until you are ready to start the next cycle in September.

For more specific features or updates, you may want to keep an eye on the Microsoft Planner updates or provide feedback through the Microsoft feedback channels.

    Hi @Cyndi Soter O'Neil

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing how your team uses Planner for yearly cycles. I understand how helpful it would be to keep your Board view clean until you’re ready to start the next cycle.

Currently, Planner only offers the “Hide future recurring tasks” option in Schedule view. In Board view, there isn’t a built-in way to hide or delay showing future recurring tasks after you mark them complete.

Here are a few workarounds you might consider:

    1/ Filter by due date

    2/ Group by due date

    3/ Future bucket or labels

    • Move next-year tasks to a “Future” bucket or apply a label like “Next Year,” then filter when needed.
    • You may find further guidance here:
