It is generally possible to obtain a replacement USB receiver for Microsoft wireless devices, including the Wireless Comfort Keyboard 5000 and Mouse 5000. You may need to contact Microsoft support or check with authorized retailers to find a compatible replacement receiver. Additionally, some third-party vendors might offer universal USB receivers that can work with multiple devices, but compatibility is not guaranteed.

Hi, I understand how inconvenient it feels when you can’t use your keyboard and mouse because the receiver is missing.

The reason this happens is that the Microsoft Wireless Comfort Desktop 5000 uses a proprietary USB receiver that’s permanently paired to the keyboard and mouse, so it can’t be replaced individually or paired with a generic dongle.

The best steps now are to check if your set is still under warranty and contact Microsoft Support for a full replacement, or look for a complete kit (keyboard, mouse, and receiver) through trusted sellers like Amazon or eBay.

Before we go further, do you know if your device is still within its warranty period, or would you prefer that I help you find a refurbished set online?

    Regards,
    Aron
