Microsoft/Minecraft Migration Problem

Hello Microsoft Support,

My Microsoft account <Mod remove PII> @gmail.com was fully functional and had an active Minecraft license. Recently, Microsoft migrated my account email to <Mod remove PII> @outlook.com.

After this migration:

I cannot log in using my Gmail account.

Logging in with the Outlook account creates a new profile without my Minecraft license.

If I try to login using the gmail one, it says account does not exist, but if i create a new account with the same name, it says already exists.

Please note that this was already a Microsoft account, not a Mojang account, so this issue is not related to the Mojang→Microsoft migration period.

It appears the migration process lost or failed to transfer my Minecraft license. I request that my Minecraft license be restored to my Microsoft account immediately.

I can provide proof of ownership, including purchase receipts, transaction IDs, or any other requested information.

This situation is urgent, as my paid game is inaccessible due to an error on Microsoft’s side.

Thank you for your prompt assistance.

It seems you are experiencing issues with your Microsoft account migration that has affected your access to your Minecraft license. Since your Gmail account was migrated to an Outlook account, it is possible that the migration process did not correctly link your Minecraft license to the new account.

Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:

    1. Check Account Status: Ensure that you are trying to log in with the correct email address that was originally associated with your Minecraft license. If you have access to the original Gmail account, try logging in again to see if it still recognizes your account.
    2. Account Recovery: If you cannot access your Gmail account, use the Microsoft account recovery options to regain access. You can follow the steps on the Microsoft account recovery page for assistance.
    3. Contact Support: Since you mentioned that you can provide proof of ownership, it would be best to contact Microsoft Support directly. Provide them with your purchase receipts and any transaction IDs related to your Minecraft license. They should be able to assist you in restoring your license to your current account.
    4. Migration Issues: If the issue persists, mention that your account was already a Microsoft account and not a Mojang account. This detail may help support understand that the problem is related to the migration process.

Given the urgency of your situation, reaching out to Microsoft Support with all relevant information will likely yield the fastest resolution.

Hello HeroBrokenBrine, thanks for posting this in our community.

This issue usually happens when the primary alias of your Microsoft account was changed during migration from Gmail to Outlook. The Minecraft license remains tied to the original Microsoft account, not the new alias or any newly created account. Logging in with the old Gmail alias fails because it’s no longer the sign-in alias, even though the account still exists under the new Outlook alias.

To verify account ownership, go to the Microsoft Account Sign-In page and sign in using your Outlook.com email (the new alias). Navigate to Your Info and then Manage how you sign in to Microsoft. Check if your Gmail address is listed as an alias. If it’s missing, you can add it back as an alias if it’s not already in use elsewhere.

Next, check your Minecraft license. While signed in with the Outlook alias, visit your Minecraft Profile or Microsoft Store purchase history. If the license is missing, it means the migration did not properly link the game entitlement to the new alias.

If your Gmail alias cannot be added because it says “already exists,” that means the Gmail address is still tied to your original account. Do not create a new account, as this will cause duplicate profiles. Instead, use the Account Recovery Form at https://account.live.com/acsr and provide the Gmail address along with as much proof as possible, such as purchase receipts, transaction IDs, and your Xbox or Minecraft Gamertag.

You can also contact Microsoft Support for Minecraft. Go to the official support page and select “Minecraft for Windows / Java Edition” under Account Issues. Include your original Gmail alias, your new Outlook alias, proof of purchase (receipt or transaction ID), and your Gamertag or Minecraft username. Make sure to explain that this was a Microsoft account migration, not a Mojang migration.

    Kind regards,

    John Oli
