We have recently migrated from SSRS 2016 to SSRS 2022. The installation of SSRS 2022 has been done. ReportServer is working fine but Reports portal is throwing error "Exception: System.Web.HttpException (0x80004005): Unable to validate data." Can you help?

The error "Exception: System.Web.HttpException (0x80004005): Unable to validate data" in the SSRS Reports portal after migrating from SSRS 2016 to SSRS 2022 may be related to the default security settings in SSRS 2022, which do not allow certain resource extensions to be uploaded. This can lead to exceptions during the deployment of reporting components.

To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

    1. Open SQL Management Studio and connect to your Reporting Services instance.
    2. Navigate to Properties > Advanced.
    3. Add *.* to the list for AllowedResourceExtensionsForUpload. Alternatively, you can add the specific extensions that are required for your reports.
    4. Restart the Reporting Services service to apply the changes.

If the problem persists, ensure that all components of the SSRS installation are properly configured and that there are no other underlying issues affecting the Reports portal.

    Hi MANDAL Suryani,

That error is typical when the cookie or token the portal tries to decrypt was encrypted with a different key than the one the portal is using. If you recently changed keys or auth mode, your browser may still present old cookies. Delete cookies for the SSRS host and retry the portal. This simple step is often enough when switching servers/keys.

    Hope this helps!
