Hello,

I accidentally selected no audio in a Microsoft Teams meeting and now every single time I get into one, I do not have an option to select audio. How can I change this?

To resolve the issue of not having audio options in Microsoft Teams after accidentally selecting no audio, you will need to check and adjust your meeting policy settings for audio. Here are the steps you can follow:

    1. Open the Teams Admin Center: If you have admin access, log in to the Microsoft Teams Admin Center.
    2. Navigate to Meeting Policies: Expand the Meetings section and select Meeting policies.
    3. Select or Create a Policy: Either choose an existing policy or create a new one.
    4. Adjust Audio Settings: In the Audio & video section, ensure that the Mode for IP audio is set to Outgoing and incoming audio enabled. This setting allows users to access audio during meetings.
    5. Save Changes: After making the necessary adjustments, be sure to save the changes.

If you do not have admin access, you may need to contact your IT administrator to assist with changing these settings.

Additionally, if you are using Teams on a macOS device and experience audio issues, restarting the coreaudiod process or your device may help resolve any underlying audio processing issues.

    Hi @Jacey Bender

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for reaching out to us. I understand how inconvenient it can be when audio options don’t appear during meetings. This usually happens because Teams remembers your last choice, when “Don’t use audio” is selected, it applies that setting automatically for future meetings.

There are some workarounds you can try:

    1/ Check Audio Device Settings

Leave the meeting if you’re currently in one.

    Go to Teams Settings:

    • Click on three dot menu → Settings → Devices.  User's image

Under Audio devices, make sure a microphone and speaker are selected (not “None”).

Next time you join a meeting:

    • On the pre-join screen, look for the audio options (usually at the bottom).
    • Select Computer audio or Phone audio instead of “Don’t use audio”.

2/ Clear cache (if using the desktop app).

Clear the cache in Teams for Windows

    Method 1: Reset the app

    • Type settings in the search box, and then select the Settings app from the results.
    • Select Apps > Installed apps, and then type Microsoft Teams in the search box.    User's image User's image
    • Locate the New Microsoft Teams app from the results, select the More options button     on the right, and then select Advanced options.    User's image
    • In the Reset section, select Reset.
    • Restart Teams.

    Method 2: Delete the files

    • If Teams is still running, right-click the Teams icon on the taskbar, and then select Quit.    User's image
    • Pressing Windows+R to open the Run dialog box.
    • In the Run dialog box, enter the following path, and then select OK.

    %userprofile%\appdata\local\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams   User's image

    • Delete all files and folders in the directory.
    • Restart Teams.

Clear the cache in Teams for macOS

    • If Teams is still running, right-click the Teams icon in the dock, and then select Quit or press Command+Q.
    • In the Finder, open the /Applications/Utilities folder, and then double-click Terminal.
    • Enter the following commands, and press Return after each command:
    • rm -rf ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.com.microsoft.teams rm -rf ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.teams2
    • Restart Teams.
