Why does my Windows 11 PC randomly freeze after the latest update?

After installing the most recent Windows 11 update, my PC started freezing at random — sometimes on the desktop, sometimes while browsing or opening apps. No error message, just a full freeze until I restart. Anyone else seeing this or know what might be causing it? Ella John

Random freezing issues on Windows 11 PCs can sometimes be linked to recent updates. While the context provided does not specify a particular known issue regarding random freezes after the latest update, it is important to ensure that your system is fully updated with the latest patches and fixes.

If you are experiencing these freezes, consider the following troubleshooting steps:

    1. Check for Additional Updates: Sometimes, subsequent updates are released to address issues found in previous updates. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
    2. Rollback the Update: If the freezing started immediately after an update, you might consider rolling back to a previous version of Windows. This can be done through Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.
    3. Driver Updates: Ensure that all your hardware drivers are up to date, especially graphics and chipset drivers, as outdated drivers can cause system instability.
    4. System Restore: If the problem persists, you might want to perform a system restore to a point before the update was installed.
    5. Check for Hardware Issues: Sometimes, hardware problems can manifest as software issues. Running hardware diagnostics can help identify any underlying problems.

If the issue continues, you may want to report it to Microsoft or check community forums for similar experiences from other users.

    Hello John,

Thank you for posting question on Microsoft Windows Forum.

Based on the issue description. Well! There are widely reports in community of this issue. The latest Windows 11 updates (24H2 and 25H2) have been linked to random system freezes and hangs, especially after the November 2025 patches.

The following are some suggestions which are worth for a check.

    1.C****heck and Repair System Files.

    • Click Start, type cmd, right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as administrator.
    • Run the following command. This will repair the Windows Image itself
    • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    • Once DISM is done, run the below command. This will scan for and replace any corrupt or missing core system files.
    • sfc /scannow
    • Restart your PC after both scans are complete and check if the freezing continues.

    2.Update Driver.

    • Since freezes are linked to driver incompatibility, update your GPU, chipset, and storage drivers directly from the manufacturer’s site and install the latest stable drivers for your model. If the problem started right after a driver update, roll back that driver in Device Manager (right-click device → Properties → Driver → Roll Back Driver).

    3.Uninstall the Problematic Update.

    • Navigate to the following path:
    • Settings → Windows Update → Update history → Uninstall updates.
    • Pick the most recent quality update (KBxxxxx) installed just before the freezes and uninstall.

    4.Pause Updates Temporarily.

    • Pause updates for a few weeks while awaiting a Microsoft hotfix or driver update. Microsoft’s release health page lists known issues and workarounds for recent builds.

You can refer to the following articles for more information.

it obvious Microsoft has no clue as to what is going on here. like everyone and Ai they think they should race to be the best in ai and then use it for large scale tasks like firing most of thier coders that make the os what it is and replace them with Ai. most of the code from 24h2 and about 70% of 25h2 is made with ai and patched By Ai code. no real testing this the word of a bot or someone who knows nothing, then we see so much people saying its xyz update from October or and update from November but everyone is 100% wrong and from what i see the patch's over the last month have only fixed some small stuff unrelated or fix's the problem for a short time. I have not been in IT for a few years but still upkeep my family and friends PCs. im not going to talk about KB numbers here so don't ask or skim for one lol even end of windows 23h2 there were some last min patch's that made that version freeze and not full freeze just like a little ill get to that in a min. from what i see and this is based on news ive seen to forms and even my own testing, anyone running windows 11 24h2 and 25h2 with a Nvidia graphics card has the biggest problems with crashing or freezing. how i know this? well i have to laptops one is my moms she is running AMD graphics and Zero problems hers has patching done ever since 23h2 now on 24h2. my sisters laptop is running intel graphics no problems she was on 23h2 but i did a fresh install of 25h2 pro and no problems running for 2 months and all up to date! now to my PC i was running 23h2 all year up until end of July because of all the problems with 24h2, the freeze was happening a lot after fresh install then i moved to 25h2. i run a 1660 super nvidia card and from 23h2 to 25h2 same problems. 1st i thought this had to do with my scripts i run before and after install but to test this i removed my extra hard drives my 1 m.2 in ACH instead of RAID and again fresh install 23h2 then 24h2 then 25h2 no scripts at any point! just out of box install bloatware and all! aka every app Microsoft jams our pcs with that no one wants! and yes mr CEO we pay for the key we one the pc we see enough ads with out an OS forcing it out of box on our pc. im getting off topic. any way problems still happen this is usually after few hours after all updates and ive removed the ones your allowed to uninstall that people saw are the problem but still wont fix the problem and others you cant remove even with cmd and even in safe mode. ive even gone as far as only security updates and still have the problems so could even be that. NO MICROFOFT the end result is not nvida blame game not gunna work here. nvidia did a hotfix driver that was to help fix the problem and then released a full driver via the app this fixed game related stuff but its the OS that is the problem as well maybe some handshake thing between windows 11 and nvida drivers. ive ran this test with nvida cards,AMD and intel also used laptops and desktops and i3 to i7 core and well as AMD core. SATA ssd and M.2 drives all same problems my desktop was tested with no overclocking of any hardware what so ever! i also tested all drivers old from like a year ago and drivers released just yesterday problem happens on all versions of windows 11 23h2 23h2 and 25h2

hire real people to code not AI the AI still has to learn and its mixing its code with code made by real people probably not compatible.

side note if anyone at Microsoft we don't care about some crap you put in terms of use so you cand do what ever, everyone wants their privacy respected! and yes even my sisters don't want your app or OS pulling data from the computer and sent to your server even to train an AI or to share with 3rd party even with a school paper or what programs are used nor does anyone want Ai or recall on there pc!!! it goes agents our freedoms and rights regardless if we have nothing to hide. windows xp and windows 7 were an OG os then you force adds in windows 10 then more ads in 11 and track etc. soon everyone will be on some version of Linux and yall would have failed fix it fast and stop worrying about AI

p.s. sorry for the poor grammar and spelling had no time and was mad please fix the problems fast before more join to leave windows, there is so much to do with the os it be a shame if everyone stopped using it, but for real you must see the problems.
