Surface Book 2 Wifi not working after sleep

After my Surface Book 2 goes to sleep (closing laptop lid or inactivity period), the wifi does not work after waking up. I can get it working again by going in to Device Manager->Network Adapters, opening up Marvel AVASTAR Wireless-AC Network Controller and disabling and then enabling it. However this is really annoying to have to do multiple times per day. My first search for this issue was July 20 so I think it started a couple of days before that.

This has not been an issue in the 6 years I've owned this laptop, but started occurring after a recent Windows Update. I was hoping it would get fixed in a subsequent update but since that has not occurred I've resorted to asking this question.

The date of the AVASTAR driver currently installed is Sep 9 2021, looking at the device updates available at https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=marvell%20avastar shows that there are not any more recent driver versions.

In my update history, in the Driver Updates I have this entry from July 16: Realtek - Net - 11.19.602.2025. There are no other recent entries in that section. This could be the culprit given how close it is to when I started experiencing issues. I can't see an option to roll it back though.

The problem is specifically related to the latest Avastar Marvell driver released by Microsoft, version 15.68.17022.122

Microsoft needs to work with Marvell to fix the problem. Till they do, the only thing you can do is to try and install a previous driver.

I was able to find a previous version of the driver 15.68.17021.121 that does seem to work, but I don't know what other issues 121 may cause.

You can download a .cab of the previous drivers from the following Microsoft website.

    https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=marvell%20semiconductors%20

Choose the 121 driver, or other previous driver. Download the cab. Double click on the cab to open it, and move the files out of the cab into a folder on your computer.

Open Device manager and choose to update the driver, with files on your disk. Then choose the folder where you placed these extracted files.

NOTE: the driver IS signed by Microsoft, so you won't get any errors. This is an official previous release, from a Microsoft website.

In addition to complaining to Microsoft, please go to the Marvell website and click, "Talk to us" and fill out the form to submit a complaint about driver 122 for the Marvell Avastar wifi card.

Perhaps someone will pay attention to this problem.
