Snap Apps

I have just purchased a Surface Pro 3 running windows 8.1. I installed office365, adobe pro. I want to be able to snap adobe and word so I can open a document in adobe and work in word at the same time and get information from the adobe document and put it in the word document. I cannot get the two apps to snap together. I can get apps on the start screen to snap with an app on the desktop. However, is there a way to snap two apps that open on the desktop or can I change a setting so that adobe or word opens on the start screen and the other app opens on the desktop. Thanks for the help. Hollis

You can snap both programs side-by-side on the desktop. Just drag Word partway off one side of the screen, and then Adobe off to the other side. Each program will snap in place so it takes up half your screen, making them side by side like you want.

If you have dual screens, you'll have to adjust one of the programs manually. Snapping doesn't work on the "shared edge" between the two monitors. It thinks you're just trying to drag the program between screens. But you can still resize the program manually so it's side-by side with the other.

I can't tell which adobe app you are using, but you should be able to run ANY

regular Windows app in a window, resize the app and have two apps running in

side by side Windows on the desktop. You can't "snap" two desktops with Windows

    8.1.

    HI

I've had my surface pro 3 for a while but feel I am not using it to its full potential as the online tutorials go over basics but not anything that I am having difficulty with.  One recent thing (and maybe its a setting I've somehow switched on!) is multitasking windows.  When I open the apps they all go to the same side and I cannot muliscreen.  Well I can, but its more like the tiling on a desktop rather than multiscreen.

I am trying to use google chrome and one note side by side.  I notice that I can use search and help with chrome/one note.  Is there anyway to do this or are there just some things you cannot open up side by side?

I've tried looking at the tutorials but they seem to have things open up magically to the other side of the screen where mine don't.

I recently rolled back from windows 10 back to 8.1, hope thats not the cause.
